Wayne, the 614-E is a Steel Guitar Amp and I can attest that it is a very good Steel Guitar Amp at that. I have had one for years and it still sounds and looks great. I am not a Webb Amp expert but, despite being all good amps, cannot talk about the differences between the different models.

As mentioned, the 614-E was primarily designed for steel guitar but also has three tone selections that change the frequency response so it was also great for fiddle. To my knowledge there were only two other model Webb amps. The Galaxy GP (general purpose which had a distortion effect) and they also made a bass head (I've only known of one on eBay which I purchased in 2005 and the seller screwed me out of because of Hurricane Rita hitting our area in 2005) but they all had the same preamp. Definitely one of the best steel amps ever produced!!!

I still have an original 1978 Webb 614-E. Been gone through once in the late 80's and reconed the JBL twice but to answer your question it is a superb Pedal Steel Amp.
