LKL and knee lever general change question

I have a Rittenberry SD10. My e string lower was acting up and returning the string sharp. I lengthened the travel by backing off the two nuts and moving the stop screw so the the lever had more travel. 1) is this the correct thing to do, it has seemed to fix the issue 2) What happens when you keep lengthening the travel of the stop over time, won't the screw eventually become so far away that it doesn't engage with the lever anymore? 3) Just curious to understand knee lever mechanics a little bit more.

When lowers don't either lower properly or return properly, my first move is to lube the scissors.
Investigate whether both raise and lower scissors are resting on the stop bar.
I don't like the idea of changing stops; changing behavior is a sign of something no longer working right. Rather than making allowances, find and fix the misbehavior.

peda three is to tight pulling e ,loosen key and nylon return , what happens is the lower or raise can't release all the way due to the e raise on the third pedal not having it all clear and with a little slack
