315's not good Mike. I'm about 15 lbs overweight @188 and it's still bugging me.

I hope you can work on lowering that number .

I used to be fat. I didn't even realize it until I ended up getting sick and in the emergency room.
Since then I have lost 65 pounds so I know what it feels like and I empathize.
I do feel much better now and I can tie my shoes without holding my breath. :)
I went from 290 down to 225. Doc says it is a good weight for me.
I am such a stud now. Old and wrinkled but a stud none the less.

I still have trouble maintaining and not eating everything I want.
It's really hard at times. My wife has been a great cheerleader for me.

I don't think I'm fat. Recently, a friend called me a "fat head". Still don't understand. Can anyone help me?

I have an excuse. Some of you may remember that I was seriously injured in 2002. I fractured my spine, and am really lucky that the spinal cord was not severed.

Prior to the accident I weighed about 200. I gained all this weight during my convalescence, and have been unable to lose it, not through lack of trying.

Guys, don't ever fracture your spine. It's not fun.

I am fat, the doc told me just 2 days ago that I have gained 39 pounds over the last 14 months...placing me a 279lb at 6foot1....

5 years ago I weighed 354lb's, took 2 years to drop to 240, and there I sat for 2 years, just could not break that level....but I WILL get it off again, it just takes time & the ability to kick yourself in the rear to get 'er done...

I tell women I am not Fat, I am Pleasingly Plump! 8)

I'm 5'-7" and I weigh 163lbs. The ratio says I should weigh about 155, but, I like where I'm at right now. It's a good fighting weight for me.

The only thing I like about that video showing me playing with George Harrison in about 1976 (it shows up on here from time to time) is that it serves to remind me to never let myself get up to over 300 lbs like I was in those days.

I'm still too heavy at 220 but it's nothing like as bad as it once was. My control of my diabetes (since 2002) has resulted in the lost weight.

I'm 5'11" and will be 74 in March.

I weigh 163. I'm about 20 lbs. overweight, according to the doc. We'd both be happy at 150.

10 years ago, I was about 250 and was having some problems with my blood pressure. This morning I weighed 164.5. I gained a few over the holidays, my "normal" weight for the past few years has been 158-159. I will get back there shortly. About losing weight, if you take in less calories then your body uses, you will lose weight. Simple things like, eliminating salt from your diet. Eating less meat and more fruits and vegetables. Moderate exercise and understanding that it takes some time to lose weight.

Although it's easy to make a few jokes about overweight, it's really a very serious thing and very difficult to manage for those who are in that category.

High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease etc are amplified by carrying around extra pounds.

My desire is for each of my forum friends who may be dealing with this find a way to shed some weight and improve on their overall health .

For anyone who really wants to or needs to lose weight, I highly recommend what is commonly called a "Whole Foods, Plant Based Diet". If you restrict yourself to plant-based (no animal products, period!) food that hasn't been processed (whole grains only, and nothing made with oil!) and keep your overall fat and sugar intake very, very low, you can eat as much as you want and you will lose all of your excess weight.

The best thing about this is that it is entirely health-promoting, will prevent or reverse heart disease and type 2 diabetes, and there's plenty of evidence that it will greatly reduce your risk of cancer as well. And a special bonus for those of the male persuasion: cures circulation issues down there too...

The worst thing about this is that it's nearly impossible to find decent restaurant food that adheres to the diet. On the other hand, this aspect has saved me a ton of money over the last four and a half years.

I'm not making this up, and I absolutely love eating this way. In my case I was able to stop all my heart meds, lost a bunch of weight, along with various other wonderful side effects.

If anyone's actually interested, a good place to start your journey here:

For sure. Although my doctor is pleased with my blood pressure and A1C glucose levels, they are still a little high. She's not worried though. I used to only eat a big meal once a day. My new wife makes sure I at least eat smaller meals 2 times a day. After that change, the weight started dropping. Hope it continues. My back has gotten so bad that it hurts to even walk. I can't carry my equipment much any more. The stroke I had makes me lose my Balance. These make exercise pretty much impossible. I moved out of the bay area to a safer area, and will start walking to get exercise.

According to an elderly, friend, of mine, a person is not fat. They are just fleshy.
I weighed 110 pounds, and then, I got married. Then, I got older, and older. No one would say I was fat, or fleshy, except for my doctor. That last 10 pounds is hell to get rid of. I don't care who you are. It just isn't easy, but neither is learning to play psg. You just keep trying. Right?
Mike I know, when you are not, physically, healthy enough to exercise, or you have a physical disability, that, let's say, makes jogging down the street, a, really, stupid idea,it seems next to impossible, without starving yourself to death. Lucckily, for me, being blind, Uhm, out of sight, out of mind. I don't see it, Idon't eat it. If I smell it, however, well, we all have our struggles. Don't we? I'm not giving up my eggs, cheese, and bacon. The rest I can live without. OH, and then, there is Tex Mex? Chili cheese fries? Dang! Life just isn't fair! Salad every day, well, just sucks.

Hey Slim, I ran into Pam Lougee at the vegetable section at the market the other day... we were both buying kale and spinach. :)

She said to tell you "hey."
