Sacred Strings Records Inc., would like to honor Marcus J. Hardy of Crescent City, Florida, as the father of all Sacred Steel Conventions. Marcus was the first to officially organize Sacred Steel musicians in the state of Florida on one stage sharing a common love for the Sacred Steel tradition.
Record labels, producers and promoters were in attendance, signing several steel players to contracts and also inviting them to various music festivals world wide. Marcus Hardy followed his vision which opened the door of opportunity for many to take their musical gift to another level in Christ. This accomplishment has been noted and is on record in Toledo, Ohio, the mecca of Sacred Steel Music & History.

Looks like the sacred steel is alive & well! Glad someone is!
Del, can you tell me how Toledo Ohio came to be the center of the SS community?
Cheers!

Hello Bud, great question. No fancy explanation, a few like minded folks got together and decided to give our Sacred Steel music tradition a place to call home. Hopefully one day Toledo will grow into a tourist attraction where people will travel to witness and have a Sacred Steel experience like nothing else in the world! |
