I see Vince will be near me (Glenside, PA) on June 18 and wondering whether Paul might be touring with him? Anybody know?

Thanks,
Jim

I read he's going out with Lyle Lovette, just the two of them. Not sure if that's the Glenside date or not..

I'm going down to Bellingham Washington on January 15th to a Time Jumpers concert. Vince Gill will be there and I heard Paul is playing steel for them. I'm excited.

Yes, I do know that Paul tours with the Time Jumpers, but I'm talking about a show billed as "Vince Gill". Not sure if he's gonna do it solo, or with a band and, if with a band, who'd be on steel...?

There are only nine dates with Lyle fairly early in 2017. It is just he and Vince on acoustics for those, no band.

Your show Jim I am 90% sure will be with the full band. When he bills himself as Vince Gill it is usually with the band.

Paul has been the regular steel player with Vince and band for a few years now. I did see them about 4 or 5 years ago with Tommy White on steel.

I saw both the Time jumpers and A show Billed under only Vince Gill and Paul franklin was with Him both times. This was just last year. I would imagine this hasn't changed. Buy seats on the right side if you wanna watch Paul.

Thanks, Jeff. To be clear, do you mean audience-right, or stage-right?

Thanks!
Jim

Jim,

I saw Vince little over a year ago and Paul was in the band, as was the great bassist Willie Weeks.

If you go, enjoy it!

Audience right, facing the stage. But that doesn't necessarily mean that it's permanently the official stage arrangement.

We went a couple years ago and had tix in the 6th row in front of Paul - pretty sweet. Both Vince and Paul were playing through Little Walter amps, great sound!

I saw Paul last night and asked him about touring with Vince. He said that aside from a handful of dates that Vince is doing with Lyle Lovett, he is touring with Vince and the Time Jumpers.

Ned, I am fairly certain someone will be confused regarding the second sentence in your post.

I assume what you mean is that Paul is touring with Vince Gill and his band, and along with that outfit Paul is touring with The Time Jumpers as well when they leave Nashville and head out on the road.

Mark, you deciphered it correctly. Paul is touring with Vince in his band and both Paul and Vince are touring with the Time Jumpers, who have actually been touring a fair amount. Check their website: http://www.thetimejumpers.com/live-gigs/

Yeah, I know. They have been out here to California for annual visits over about the past three or four years.

I was just doing the deciphering bit because I have a fair amount of professional writing background in my past and I became very used to making sure that I was clear in my explanations before I sent articles for submission. Otherwise I'd have to go back and fix it. And being fairly lazy I didn't enjoy that.
