For those using the Roland Gx 80. Do you find the delay and reverb to be satisfactory or can a better sound be obtained from seperate devices ?
Seems to be decent to me, much better than my session limited. |

I have experimented with using a Boss RV-3 (reverb and delay) and a Carbon Copy analog delay pedal instead of using the amp's built-in effects. The main difference with the pedals is that they have ranges of depth of the effects that might be useful for six-string guitar playing for certain special effects (like very deep reverb for surf guitar tunes or extra big and long repeats for "spacey" sounds.)
After experimenting I decided to continue using the Roland Cube's built-in effects for pedal and non-pedal steel since they have the same sound quality as my pedals and are more convenient to use ( I use the Roland foot controller that can control a number of functions of this amp.) I don't need the extremes of reverb and delay adjustments that my pedals offer. A little reverb and sometimes a little bit of delay go a long way with the steel guitar. |

Thanks Frank. Do you think it sounds better than any sound you could get from the session 400 limited ? |

Check out Dispatch Master by Earthquaker Devices
Great control of both delay and reverb - Much better than an RV-3 _________________ Ron Petersen |

I have no experience with the Session 400.
The Cube has the advantage of being relatively compact, light, and also does a good job with six string guitars (Tele, etc.) for which it was originally designed...sort of an all purpose amp. I have lately become quite a Roland fan. |

I've used the built in Delay and Reverb in our 80GX. Its different than what I use with a POD X3, but satisfactory. My wife uses it with her GFI Expo S-10 and I've used it on occasion with my Telecaster.
It was purchased primarily for lead guitar, but seems to be "OK" for steel. |
