OzSGA Christmas Party and Jam, Dec 11, 2016
Despite the cold weather we had a good crowd of about 40 people!
The afternoon started with an announcement From our President, Terry Bethel regarding the fact that Jeremiah & Venda resigned last August and we would need people to help with the jobs they did for so long. Also we would be trying some new things this year to build up the club! Terry then brought Ron & Opal Erickson onstage to issue the opening prayer and start the show.
The players able to join us were, Jack Musgrave, Mike Squires, Mike McGee, Ron Erickson, Larry Gerdeman, Beverley Harris, Terry Bethel, Bob Tuttle, Eddie Lane, JoAnn Kreder, Steve Melchi, Rick Crow, David Dean White, & Don Reed.
The band consisted of Dino Strunk on lead, Russ Burns on drums, Buddy Lewis on bass with a special appearance after our break by John Zazuliak on accordion! We had several singers joining us also; Ron & Opal Erickson, Country Jack Harper, Cathy Smeenk, and Buddy Lewis. Thanks to all the players, band and singers for all the wonderful music which included not only Country and Christmas but a little Gospel too!
During our food break Charlie & Rosemary passed out forms asking people if they would be interested in holding an office or working the shows or membership committee. There was also a form to nominate the 2 honorees for next year. Also John Zazuliak informed me that Wayne Link from Canada has had a bad stroke which has affected his playing hand. Please say a prayer for Wayne and his family. Hope he recovers and is able to play again!
Thanks to everyone who brought food…it was delicious! Thanks to Terry, Charlie and Rosemary and all who helped to make this happen! And a big thank you to all those attending and to the Stone Castle Hotel & Convention center for such a wonderful venue, also for providing us with coffee and supplies!
Already looking forward to seeing even more of you next Christmas and all the events throughout 2017.
