Is there such an option as a Mica -Sunburst finish?
I don't recall ever seeing one, but that doesn't mean its not feasible. Might be more durable than the lacquer sunburst finishes.

Check with Mike at Mullen, they are doing some amazing finishes now.

I doubt if you could do a sunburst in just mica.
I suppose you could do some shading with lacquer on the ends of the guitar.

The mica surface might have to be "etched" in order for the applied paint to bond. Most ultra smooth surfaces need some sort of pre-prepping.

The colors/patterns in plastic laminate are printed on paper and embedded in phenolic resin. I've never seen a sunburst pattern in a production laminate, but I know some manufacturers (like Wilsonart) will make custom sheets from digital art. It's pricey but quite doable and not uncommon.

You would have to produce a high-res photo of the sunburst pattern on a flat plane with the look, the type of wood and colors etc. you wanted, email it to them and they would produce the material in a sheet(s).
