I have a rickety, wobbly legged MCI welded frame D10 (sounds tremendous, though) that i am thinking of converting to SD10..there's a guy on EBAY right now with some old stock EMCI parts, including a welded SD10 frame. my question: are projects like this worth fooling with? |

Charles I am currently restoring my old MCI Rangexpander D10 - and it's a lot of fun if you can get your hands on the parts ... be a shame to butcher a D10 though, these are great guitars - the parts you mentioned would be a good idea I reckon _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

i think i have all the parts i need- this is a fully functioning guitar, just a bit of a dog in some ways (previous owner did some questionable tinkering)...i've played shows and traveled with it a bunch..the biggest problem has always been the legs- they're wobbly in their sockets and consequently the whole thing just moves around ALOT. |

Would be a shame to dismantle a treasure. Can you stabilize the legs with Helicoil inserts?

Or you could rip up a functional D-10, sell off the parts so it can never be reconstructed, and leave yourself with a maimed SD-10 with wobbly legs.
Why not fix the problem?
Preempting the next post: Hey, it's your guitar, do whatever you want. Don't want to sound too harsh, but there are not a ton of those out there, and they're held in quite high regard. It'd be nice if it got returned to its natural state! |

the sd10 would be on a factory new, old stock emci sd10 frame. i imagine that would take care of the leg stability issue..i wondered about using the helicoils on this frame, also..does anyone have experience doing that...in it's current condition, "treasure" is not a word that jumps to the top of the list |

Don't destroy a D-10 just to make a single. Just trade it for a single. _________________ Henry Matthews
