What is your Copedent ?

Meaning, how are your gig guitars setup and what is your preference so that you can play to your best ability ?

We talk about this a a lot, so why not tell all !

ME, typical ABC Emmons,
LKL raise E's
LKR lower E's
LKV lower 6
RKL raise 1,2 and 7
RKR lower 2 x 2, lower 9

Although I like lower 5, I have never really fit that change into what I play, lower 6 is a better fit for me.


C6th, standard peds with 2 levers, lower 3 and raise 4. A 3rd lever would be of value.

Please just tell us what you have and don't try to convince us that what you have is better than what we have !

Of course we should ask questions if we something that looks to be unique and interesting !

I think this could be an interesting tread Tony... it’s always interesting to see how others are set up.

I too use the typical Emmon’s ABC, but then robbed rods off of the 4th pedal C6th neck to try and see what all the fuss about the Franklin Pedal was about... found out later I did it wrong though as I only took the 5th string down a half a step instead of a whole... that said, there are still some useful things that can be done with it... I believe it takes you from an open 1 chord to a 3

FLKL---Raise the E’s
RLKL---Lower the 7th F# to E, (Jim Lindsey/Gary Hogue thing)
LKR----Lower the E’s
LKV----Lower the 5th string B, but not the 10th.... May have robbed that for the FP
RKL----Raise 1st to G#, the 2nd to E... Lower the 6th to G# and the 9th to C
RKR----Lower the 2nd D/C#, double stop also on the 7th raising it to G/G# and lower the 9th to C#

I’ve been experimenting with C6th sounds on E9th and have started calling FLKL/RKL/RKR my C6th levers, I know the LKR has a lot of 6th sounds available with it, but those other KL’s mentioned really have some pretty chords associated with them... the 9th string to me being the pivotal string to making it all happen... the LKV also has some cool stuff with the 9th string... I’d have to say that the 9th string is my favorite, especially when I’m trying to find bigger richer chords.

Hope I got all the pulls correct... I’m in my recliner and if it ain’t right in front of me.... well, you older guys get it right... LOL

The C6th neck is pretty much Buck Reids set-up, but I am so lacking on that neck, I’d be hard pressed to tell you what all the pulls are unless I was sitting in front of it.

.....pretty much.....with a few tweaks. I get 5&10 E9 lower whole tone on pedal 8...and splits on 6th string E9 and half stop on C6 4th string A/Bb/B.

P1: Raise 4,5 to F#, C#
P2: Both G#s to A
P3: Both Bs to C#
P4: Raise 6 to A, raise 5 to C# (Isaacs pedal)
LKL: lower Es
LKR: raise Es
LKV: raise 1,2 and 7 (G#,E,G#)- easy to half-pedal for a G on the 7th.
RKL: Lower Bs
RKR: Lower 2 and 9

C6: Standard 'Emmons' for the pedals (4-8):

LKL: - C-B
LKR: - Both Cs to C#
LKV: - Both As to Ab
RKL: - 6th E to F/ 10th C to D
RKR: - Both As to Bb

My setup has somewhat odd knee lever assignments and I don't use an open D string (a la some uni setups) but otherwise it's pretty conventional.

There's no double stop on 2 and I don't lower G# (6) or the Bs (5 & 10).

I don't usually raise the 2nd but I've been trying it for the last month or so.

I don't have the LKV 4th raise on my Emmons because it requires too much travel. Hoping to figure out a fix for that someday. All my other guitars with LKVs have it.
