Show us your black or white steels.

Post by Mike Perlowin »

Here's my former white mica MSA classic. This guitar previously belonged to Dave Zeiglar, who used it in Rusty Draper's road band. It has entertained people in over 40 different states.

This is the Millennium that turned up on E-Bay.

I've been asked if I had a thing for white steels. I don't. The fact that I used to have one white steel and now have another is purely coincidental.

I prefer my steels to be plain and unadorned, but I felt that the Millie was TOO plain and unadorned. You can see how I decorated it in the thread about decorating your steels.

This guitar has been both a black AND a white guitar.
When I bought it it was black and since I've always wanted a white guitar, I re-micaed it.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, as well as some older MSAs, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

Image My best and favorite steel, my 2010 Jackson Blackjack Custom, known as "Black Diamond". Wonderful guitar with wonderful tone, playability, smooth pedal action, and sustain! Out of my three guitars, it's my favorite guitar I play-my main guitar.

Yeah Jeremy, I wanted the pedal rods white too, but Maurice thought it would put it a little over the top. He said it would look more like a picket fence than a steel guitar. :)

Here's one of each that I used to own, both '75's, the black one was lacquer, and the white one was mica. They both sounded good, but the mica one had a bit of an edge on tone.
