Sounds like one of the teaching tracks by the great Jeff Newman.

Jeff did a course with this song, but that was Bob Browning on vocal.

I think Walter's posting is Red Steagall, but not sure who's playing steel.

Bill, I believe you are right...it is Bob Browning singing and Jeff Newman playing Steel. Jeff was a great player!

I have the Jeff track here but it's on cassette and I have nothing to play it on.

He did a bunch of those with both Bob Browning and Ernie Rowell?[sp.]
