Gary, Henry plays Day setup, and this guitar is mine, set up to Emmons set up... I couldn't play a lick on guitars set up to Day ... lol ... I think Henry did an awesome job, if this was an all pull guitar, it wouldn't be too hard to set it up Day, and then change it back to Emmons after recording was done, but it is a push pull which demands much more time and work to do the swap... Henry plays some real country stuff here, and I was blown away by the tone of the guitar, which was recorded only through Peavey LTD straight into the mixing board, with only effect being little bit of on board amp reverb, and nothing else...Henry said even EQ was set "flat" ... so pretty much what you hear here, is the natural tone of the guitar... even tho I always knew that a Promat's are "tone monsters", I was still absolutely stunned by the tone in this recording... another thing are pick ups, from my personal experience, I believe that Jerry Wallace "True Tone" pickups are the absolute best choice for Promat guitars, tone Jerry's TT pick ups produce while on Promat guitars, is absolutely outstanding in my opinion... Jerry is very familiar with Promat, and if you ever decide to order a new Promat, make sure you talk to Jerry, and have him make you a pick up for your new Promat guitar, and you wont be sorry you did... I can guarantee you that...

That steel sounds clean and clear. I have known Henry Matthews for a few years now and he is a good picker for sure and a great guy as well. Thanks for posting the videos. |

Mighty nice sounding all the way around, Henry.
I'll admit, the Promat does have very even string amplitudes accross its compass. Smooth, one would say. |

I believe we made the right choice with TT10 pick ups...guitar sounds clear smooth, and pleasant, and has that beautiful push pull zing all the way up and down the neck...tone is more gentle and elegant then Emmons...if you ever wondered what would push pull ZUM sound like, I guess this would be pretty close... _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |
