| I have just bought a pair of 10" MusicMan speakers . The seller says they are "surprisingly tight for their age " What does he mean by that ? How can you tell if a speaker is new (tight?) or worn in (loose ?) |

Music Man also used the EV Force speakers in their 10" cabinets. Not a bad speaker at all!
(EV will be cast aluminum frame, Eminence will be stamped steel). |

The best way to tell is to see how much flex the spider has. The spider is that part of the speaker that has the "ribbing" around the cone. Not sure if I am explaining it correctly.

| Well, you can only tell if you're heard the same speaker when it has been well broken-in. Generally, when a speaker is well broken-in, it has more (and smoother) bass and a generally fuller, livelier sound. Some refer to this as a speaker "blooming". The "tight" aspect folks talk about sorta makes a speaker sound smaller than it really is. |
