My wife and I saw Dwight last night at the outdoor stage in Lincoln Center last night. WHAT A GREAT SHOW!

We were wondering about the multi-instrumentalist that was playing a Fender steel, he also played guitar, keys fiddle, accordion, and backing vocals.

It was hard to hear when he introduced the band, but I think his first name was Elliot.

The opening band was the Cactus Blossoms, and they were really good as well.

It was a beautiful night in NYC and even better since it was a free show.

When I saw Dwight a couple of years ago it was Brian Whelan who played steel. He also played an old Fender steel. I wonder if that's the very same steel and if it actually belongs to Dwight?

There's an interview with Brian in Chris Shiflett's podcast "Walking the floor" episode 27. Chris is doing a great job with the podcast and you can also hear interviews with Red Simpson, Merle Haggard, Joe Saunders (Billy Mize's grandson), Dwight, Redd Volkaert, Kenny Vaughan, Brad Paisley, Robbie Fulks, Sturgil Simpson, Dierks Bentley and Jason Isbell among others.

I'm sure it's the same gtr. Dwight found a pristine, in the closet for 50 years, sunburst Fender 400. Absolutely as new as the day it was made. Even had the owners manual.
I played it in the studio once, and it had enough treble built-in to melt your teeth.
Pretty cool...
