A problem is that the rig is not solid enough to support the pressure of turning the stomp switches on/off unless they are soft touch. And lighter weight steels get a little bit tippy with outboard stuff hanging off one side. Your Emmons probably can hold its own, though, boat-anchor-wise.
This is something I tried briefly, 15 years ago. It worked but I could list the reasons why it's not a great solution.
Nice piece of drum hardware, though.

One thing you want to check. Is the clamp big enough to fit on a leg (the larger part.). I was looking for a way to get my Zoom stomp box up where I could reach it. I got a cell phone holder that would clamp onto the Zoom and to a mic stand, but the clamp would only fit on the small tube of the mic stand.

| That would work at home. But on stage it is looking for some ones shirt tail, coat tail or some other thing to catch and upset a steel. I always put my 2 stomp units under my steel by my volume pedal. Used my right foot. Now that I am starting on a S 12 U 7 pedal steel. I am doing some serious thoughts on mounting them on a metal plate that would hook on the side of my seat so I can reach down with my right hand and make changes quickly. Make a unit and mount the stomp boxes that would hook on the edge of the seat box open and when the seat lid goes down and locked they would be secure and out of the way. |

I have also drilled a hole in the bottom of the stomp box and put a 1/4-20 "T" nut in the hole, and super glued it in. You have to remove the little spikes the holds it in place. Then I use the mounting bracket for my Stroboflip tuner (available from Petersen) since I don't leave my tuner plugged in to my guitar when I play.

| I'd like to revive this thread. I have a tour coming up where I have to play some very ambient backgrounds on PSG. My main processor will be an Eventide Space stomp box, but I'm going to be tweaking it constantly.I could have backline provide a small barstool but a clip-on tray would be best, like those heavy-duty ones they make for mic stands. Any more ideas?? |

I just set mt steel case on its side at right angles to the guitar, and my stompers fit on that perfectly. I run the cords outboard, and no more getting the cord caught on the leg of my seat when I switch to guitar.

I built a small 'sidekick' box on the side of my seat and the lid opens flat to hold 3 pedals. I can also stash stuff inside. I also have a battery led light velcrowed inside for nights.

Here is one I designed in 2008 works like a charm.Mounts instantly on the lip of your seat. Velcro on top will hold tunners stomp box ect.
