One of my guitars is a Fender 400 with 6 pedals and a homemade knee that can do 1 pull. I might try it out in a situation where I would be the only rhythm player.

I'm wondering if anyone has good ideas for copedant changes to faciliate some things like that?

Right now it's actually in an A6 tuning:

1 2 3 4 5 6 K
----------------------
E | D# F
C# | B D
A | G# G# B
F# | G#
E | D#
C# | C
A | A#
F# |

1 and 2 are the old school country moves.
3-5 are P5-P7, knee is P8, 6 is what it is

One idea I had was to lower the bottom F# to E with the 2nd or 6th pedal to do some alternating bass stuff in the open position. Any other cool ideas?

Thanks as always for the great input and dialog.

Thanks Bobby!
I really like your idea for p3. Get some nice bass stuff on the 7th. The downside is the 400 is single raise/lower changer. I guess that's one of the reasons we always steer people away from them. Maybe I'd keep that and then raise F to G on p6 instead.

I've heard a lot of people lowering the top E to get the easy minor. I don't know that I've come across raising the other E to F with that. Some sort of an F13? This is intriguing. I'm curious about uses of this with the other pedals.

Anyway, thanks again.

I have a Fender 400 with 4 pedals which I switch between E9th and B6th tunings.
I like b0b's reccomendation as it is basically a C6th neck and would provide you with a ton of big fatties, which would sound especially exceptional on that guitar in a swing band situation!

Thanks Basil. Thankfully the 400 has the easist copedant to change - I'll print this out and play around a little this weekend. p3 looks fun. Also I think you wanted both Gs to F# on p5 - a nice quick change from A7 to A6. You should call this tuning the 'famous waikiki A7' or something. Mahalo!

Pete - do you leave off the chromatic strings for E9? Some people get rid of 2 and 9 instead. Do you have a C pedal or a E - F raise? I'm always curious about what compromises people decide to make when dealing with limitations.

Thanks again, everyone.

I have my strings set up like this:
1-G#, 2-F#, 3-E, 4-B, 5-G# 6-F# 7-E, 8-B.

P1- E's to F
P2- B's to C#
P3- G#'s to A
P4- E's to Eb

So with A+B, I have a nice A6th.
With E's lowered, I have a nice B6th.

The standard E9th stuff is there, although it would be nice to have a 2x2 instead of 4x0!
I end up playing with 2 feet working the pedals quite often.

You were right about the G#..John...

pedal 2 = A9
1+2 = E6
1+2+3 = E69(maj7)
pedal 4 = C6,
Pedal 5 = A6,
pedal 4+5 =D9

try this, pedal 1+2 at the third fret (G6) then Pedal 2+3 at the 4th fret (Omit top string)(G7 with all sorts of added bits!!)
then pedal 1 at the 3rd fret (Cmaj7) resolving to C6 with pedal 5.
that pedal 2+3 chord is also a 9b5
at the 3rd fret =C9b5 |(include the first string and it's a 13b5

Basil

Track number 09 is the one i usally play on a 6 string National. And i can get better result playing this one without pedals.
I use a Rudi Wairata tuning on this melody.
D B A F# D A.
It can give some nice licks and with this tuning you can play that song really fast if you want.
