HERE'S a beauty.

Was cruising around and found it on some obscure website.

Looks like it's been modded somewhat, though not played much if at all, and for a dollar less than 3 grand.

Makes me wish I'd have bought a dozen of them in 76 for 600$ when I had the chance.

I can testify there's more than two thousand gigs in each one of these old workhorses.

And then some..

Great looking axe.

Hey, Eric! You should get your Pro III rebuilt and refinished in that colour!

WOW!! That`s a beauty alright and I dig that great colour, but a question...is it my imagination or an optical illusion ? is that back neck really shorter than the front one ?...they appear to be different lengths, if so what would be the reasoning behind it?
Just curious

Glyn, no, both necks are the same, sometimes when an object is farther away, it looks smaller.
This guitar is a late model Sho-Bud Pro III, (my favorite) and plays and sounds as good as it looks. Blue is my favor Sho-Bud color, just keep it out of the sun and don't let it fade.
Thank you Eric, Hope you are feeling better, but can understand why and if you don't. I'm not feeling very good myself!

Bobbe, you're right about that blue color!! When I got my old ShoBud S-12 in '77 it was a beautiful blue birdseye maple finish. It was never in the sun but stayed in the clubs in LA six nights a week for years. When I finally sold it about 14 years later it had changed. I guess maybe the smoke got it or the laquer yellowed, but it was more green than blue but it was still a pretty guitar. I sure wish I had the d@mn thing back...JH

Fom Bobbes advertisement,
"Totally refinished by the original factory employees, aluminum professionally refuffed,"
Do I need a refuffinator to do this?
Sorry Bobbe! Best JB

This one looks like a pot-metal version.
Is this correct?
If so, have the weak parts been replaced with new ones?

Peter, no but they have been replaced with brand new original ones. Should be good for a long time. Then they can be replaced with after market units. 'Good question Peter.
It does have a 6 month guarantee, (against termites).
Seriously, this is an incredible guitar. What will it be worth in ten years if taken care of well? A lot more than it was ten years ago.
Just remember, refuffing is very expensive! Not everyone can "refuff"!

Old blue was just sold, another great Sho-Bud gone to a great home in California.
This one was even better than it looked. This was more than a restoration, over two full days were spent just hand rubbing the finish to absolute perfection.
Quality takes time, and time is money.

Mr. Jim Wise has an Identical Pro III on the way to him in Reno NV., except the color is red. Just as immaculate. Hal Higgins is testing it right now as I type this.
