A Heartfelt Thank You

I want to thank everyone here for all the great information on pedal steels. I've followed the Forum for nearly a year and you have explained these instruments in such a way that they have gone from completly baffing to awe inspiring. I've read about tunings, which brand is the best, which color is the best and all the inner workings of these wonderful machines. I've copied down tunings and read them over and over. I have a pretty good idea what each pedal and lever does. I took the plunge yesterday and bought my first pedal steel. The hernia was free. A Sierra Olympic S12 E9 4/5. I learned what all those numbers mean from the Forum. I understand this guitar was B6 at some point. The extra pedals have been removed but all the bellcranks and some of the rods are still in place. I spent two hours tuning it based on recommentations found here. It worked. This may not be the fanciest steel in the world, but it's mine and I am very happy. I managed to get through Tequilla Sunrise several times with few errors. Mostly chords and a few single notes. A good start. Months of studying has paid off. Remember the fella from the opening of ABC's Wide World of Sports who tumbled off the end of the ski ramp. That decribes my technique at this time. The body doesn't always do what it's told.
Again thank you for the tips, tricks and good company. By the way, the Sierra is BLACK. Heard that color practically plays itself.

Hi Mike, welcome aboard. Our band plays Tequila Sunrise also. One of my favorite songs. Maybe we can get together and talk steel guitar sometime.
