A left-handed PSG

Post by Artur Uronen »

Hi!

I’m popping over here for the first time having only been reading the non-pedal section so far… :-)

After playing mainly 8-string consoles for around 7 years now, I’ve recently taken huge interest toward pedal steels. Being left-handed, I’ve talked to a few builders so far who have told me that they would be able to build a lefty for me (Bob Simmons, Wolfgang from WBS, Jerry Fessenden, Fred Justice, Bob from GFI).

As I have no experience on PSG’s yet, I was wondering if there are any more builders whom I should definitely talk to about this? I'm located in Finland, but I will be in US between Sep. 26th and Nov. 9th, so one possibility would be to take the new instrument in the plane with me. :-)

Thank you all very much, any advice will be greatly appreciated!

PS. I also posted on “Wanted to buy” -section, so if anyone happens to know someone with an extra lefty PSG, feel free to let me know!

I'm certain Bill Rudolph at Williams Guitar Co can build you a left handed steel.

I bet both WBS and Schild (German and Swiss, respectively) would do it, and save the import duties (and also be stellar guitars)
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Hi Artur, and welcome. I had Bob Simmons build me a lefty SD10 a few years back. Its been a good product, needing nothing. He lives about an hour away, so it was an easy transaction. I'd like to add a D10, so I keep my eyes open.
