Is this worth $50.00?
https://sanantonio.craigslist.org/msg/5641814358.html
There are a lot of these light, limited use, pa drivers from $150 to $300 new. Is the one in this ad any worse than most of the others?
All I need one for is to use for playing at retirement homes and a few places where almost any volume at all is too loud.
For this I only use 3 channels with a tiny bit of reverb on voice.
It is all acoustic through mics. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

My apologies James...
If you purchase the unit, and it doesn't fit your needs but is in working order, I'd be thrilled to take it off your hands? If you'll write me a bill of sale, I'll reimburse you the $50, + pay the shipping to 73759, + a donation to the forum?
BTW, I tried emailing you again... |

I told the guy I would take it. I am hoping I can use it. All it has to do is make an acceptable sound. For these small venues, my main system is overkill.
I actually need an additional unit for backup. I have the worst luck with amps going out just when I need them to work.
There are a whole slew of these little pa heads selling for under $300. Does anyone have an opinion as to which ones are better than others. I am not adept at all in electronics and just go with other people tell me. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

It's a Stageworks 100-watt powered mixer, model LG-8. If it works, it's probably worth that. If it doesn't work, caveat emptor, since it will probably cost at least another hundred to fix it. Brand new (with speakers), it cost $349, and the value now, provided it works and comes with the speakers, would be around $100-$150. If it's just a powered mixer or PA amp you want, prices have tumbled, and there are a number of (new) powered mixers for sale now that cost under $175. |

I've had bad luck with Bheriinger and Fender systems similar to this. Noisy, and unreliable when pushed hard. If you can afford it, I would go with a Yamaha or Peavey setup. I have used both, and the Yamaha system I am using now has been used on average once a week for the last fifteen years without fail.I sold my old peavey system after 20 years of reliable service and it still worked great. There is always the higher Priced JBL and Mackie stuff. While top end, the price difference from Yamha or Peavey did not seem to justify the difference in sound quality, which is there. I am not saying the system you are looking at is bad, and it might turn out to be a real workhorse. For myself, I have found Yamaha and Peavey equipment to give the best bang for the buck. Roadworthy, reliable, and easily repaired when it does need work, which is not often. _________________ ShoBud Pro 1, 75 Tele, 85 Yamaha SA 2000, Fender Cybertwin, |

Just for the record, I got it. It actually sounds pretty good. For live with 3 mics in a small space, it is just fine. I really appreciate the advice. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act
