I love Mick Taylor's solo on this country flavored Rolling Stones number and have transcribed it for 8 string C6 (acegaceg) console steel. The original really sounds to me like it was played with a slide, though after watching a couple youtube vids of the Stones live circa '71 Mick doesn't use one. In one vid he's playing a Gibson SG and the solo sounds really choppy compared to the slippery studio version...another vid he's playing a fancy sunburst Les Paul and the solo is smoother but still not like the original. Does anyone know for sure if this was originally recorded with a slide or what type of guitar he played?
Anyway, it's not a complicated solo but there are a few licks that require good blocking technique to really shine.
As usual, refer to the original to get the correct phrasing.
Have fun

Thank you Dennis. I, for one, appreciate the work that you obviously have put into this. |
