Pot-type volume pedals aimed at steelers generally come with 500 k pots (or 470 k pots, essentially the same thing). Pedals marketed to armpit guitarists (such as Ernie Ball) are often 250 k, which is fine for the somewhat lower impedance of pickups in those instruments.

The Dunlop 470 k pot sold by forum member Tom Bradshaw (and others) is a fine choice for replacement.
If you do a search you'll probably find dozens of informative threads on pots here.

Dennis,
Professional volume pedals come with a 470-500k pot. This has been the standard in the industry for many years.
IMHO, Goodrich has the finest pot on the market today and they stand behind it 100%.
I sell the Goodrich volume pedals.
I also sell the volume pots separately and will even pre-wire it for you.
I will be happy to send you a price list if you will just email me.
Thanks,
Bill
