I've seen the pros use these a lot but I haven't messed with slants much on the pedal steel. But I know it can be very cool. I've seen Psul Franklin, Jim lose burg, tommy White, mike Johnson, and others do it every now and then.
I was wondering if anyone could share some licks or ideas |

Probably one of the best in the business using slants is Lloyd. If you go to youtube and google peter cooper and select the wine song you will see Lloyd doing two slants in the intro. The first one was more difficult for me but the second slant which happens at the end of the intro is not too difficult to master. He is playing a D at the first fret using the "F" lever and is hitting stings 5 & 8. He slants to the 2nd fret with the bottom of the bar and then back. If you are having problem hearing what it sounds like you can go to the third fret and hit 8 & 5 with the 8th string dropped. Then let off the knee lever and then engage it again and you will get the same 2 notes. The slant just looks cool when you do it and you probably can achieve a little more emotion with the slant.

Grab a major chord on strings 3 and 5 i.e. C at the 8th. Drop the a pedal raising 5 and 10 and tilt the bar so that the 3rd string is at the 8th and 5th is at the ninth. You can resolve it to a and b at the 8th or move the slant and pedal combo up a fret and then to the major 4 chord open, 13 in this example. This is employed on old country by Mark Chesnutt.
