I am looking for someone who teaches PSG in the Columbia/Lexington area. I would like some instruction on a one on one basis that one would not get from a book. I teach guitar and I know the importance of personal instruction to enhance "playability" with students. I likewise would really like to learn the PSG, and hope to find someone to start me off on the right (or should I say LEFT) foot. Thanks...Clark in West Columbia, S.C. |

Hey Clark,
Have you ever heard of a singer/guitarist named Garland Frady? He worked in the SoCal area for years and then moved back down south somewhere? You're not any relation to him are you?....Thanks, JH

No, I have never heard of him. Not sure if we are related or not, you know how that goes though. My Grand Dad, Dad and Myself learned to play guitar. My Dad played in a band back in the 60's and 70's, I started playing back in the late 80's early 90's, starting with Bluegrass and now playing cover songs in a Country/Variety Band here in Columbia. I learned to play a little Dobro a few years ago with the guys up the road at a Bluegrass Store (Bill's), this eventually led me up to wanting to play the PSG.
As for the Garland Frady,You never know about that darn Milk Man though. He seemed pretty peculiar to me too{Ha Ha}. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Clark. Folly Beach is a little ways off but worth the ride. I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Hi Clark,
First Welcome to the Forum...It's a tremendous resource as you have probably discovered.
I live in Newberry and work in Columbia. There are at least two of us PSG players in Newberry. The other is Lloyd Brigman, who does a really nice job and is too modest about his ability. We usually get together once a week or every other week for some "kitchen pickin'". You would be more than welcome to join us.

Thanks Don, and Bernie!! Newberry is right up the road a "fur piece". Folly Beach is a pretty ride, not sure if we would get much playin' in {ha ha ha} I like kitchen pickin'. I see that the Forum is a valuable and worthwhile resource. I am enjoying the fellowship a great deal. It is good to meet people who share something good and in common.
And YES, I have heard of Saluda!! Saluda is in my back yard a little ways down the road.
