The steel guitarist is Kauai's own Ed Punua!

Love this!

Anyone know what tuning Ed is using here? C13?

I've seen Ed at several Hawaiian steel festivals. He was a student of Barney Isaacs, and he is a great player. He usually has a high G C6 on one neck and Jules Ah See's B11 on the other. I've also seen him play in E7, too.

On the video, he's playing in C6.

Spot on Jack! I think he's only using the top 4 or 5 strings. That last turnaround is pure Jules, gotta put that one in my trick bag.

Love it. I'm in Kauaʻi right now and am overwhelmed by its beauty. Caught some great music by Bev Kauanui at Tahiti Nui tonight. Thanks for posting, Ron!
