Just got my hands on a Holy Grail Neo reverb pedal, and would like to compare notes with others who have tried it with pedal steel. My first impressions:
1. All 3 reverb types sound great, but my untrained ear cannot detect a lot of difference. I like the plate setting best.
2. The tail, or dwell, whatever you call it, is very long, and there's no way to shorten it. But I guess that's what you get with a one-knob amp reverb too.
3. To my ear, the usable range on the knob is very narrow, somewhere between zero and one (7 to 8 oclock). But I haven't played out with it, so that could change.
Would like to hear other's experience with this pedal. |

The sweet spot to me is right at 12 IMO (zero would be around seven o'clock on mine). I only use the hall setting. I also have a Peavy Valverb true spring reverb that also has tremolo. A minute touch of that reverb and the tremolo finishes my sound sculpting for my old Fender. It also seems to sound best in the effects loop of my amp, and with a 1spot power supply instead of the one it came with. _________________ "Be Kind to Animals, don't eat Them"

12 oclock on mine sounds insane...I think I've got a bad unit, and it's going back to the store. So we should probably just delete this topic. |
