Looking for any info on GEBS lap steels..the one I'm looking at is all metal, with 'wheel' type knobs that are on either side of the pickup and half the wheel is inside the body (90* to the strings). The tone seems to be just a 2 position switch. Thanks! )dave

The last time this was asked nobody had much information. Do you have a photo or two you could share?

Are you saying the body is built of metal? I have one that is covered in pearloid that has the roller knobs in either side. I would like to see the pix also.

OK..got some pics. The body seems to be the usual shape, but is metal or at least 'metal covered'. The pickup has 3 pole pieces on the treble side, and a blade under the bass strings. the Vol. is on the treble side, and the 'Tone' is a 2 position switch.

Cool steel Dave! I've not seen one like that before. So, did it follow you home :)

The wheels for the V and T is something I've thought about doing, but this is the first time I've seen it used on a steel. My thought was to have them rotate along the width of the instrument and not along the length like this one. It just seems to me that it would be easier / a more natural flow to reach out and flick / roll it with a fingertip.

The way it lays out, the Vol. wheel is in the perfect location under my ring finger..I wouldn't need a Vol. pedal at all! It has a pretty high 'Buck Rodgers' factor, too! :) I played it some over the years that my friend had it, and while I'd love to own it, it's priced a little high for me. If the price comes down, it'll follow me home! :)
I'm hoping someone will chime in about the Tone wheel seeming to have just 2 positions. Seems almost like a boost with more bottom. I'd love see how it's wired, but the guy selling it for the family doesn't want to try to take it apart (understandably!)..those little 4-40 screws have a way of popping the heads off and then he's into a repair, but if there's any info to be had on it, it's under one of those covers! :) I'm also wondering if all the GEBS pups were like this one. It sure sounds good!
