We're on for April 24th! Log that date in your calender. The Steel Guitar Club of Victoria will have our first meeting. The address is 501 E. Larkspur in Victoria, TX 77904. It is very easy to find. Turn beside the big Discount Tire Store on Navarro St (US 77) and follow that road until you see the sign. We will begin at 2pm. Refreshments will be served (no alcohol). This facility is an assisted living complex. They are one of our sponsors for our Crossroads Country Opry.
All levels of players are welcome. We will be doing a short teaching segment, along with a featured player segment and a jam for all players. Set up time is 1:30.
If you would like to communicate with other steel players, or just get together for some steel pickin', this is the place for you.
Call if you need any more info.

Randy, I'd like to wish you well as your jam takes off. I know your jam welcomes other musicians too, like drummers, bass players, lead and rhythm guitars and, of course, vocalists. Maybe even a banjo. And, fans; many fans to support the group.

Randy, What is the best (fastest) way to get from San Antonio to Victoria on a Sunday? Don't say by jet airplane.

Ben, I like to go south on Hwy 87 thru Stockdale. (You better slow down thru Stockdale, though.) As you come in to Victoria, turn left on Loop 463. Exit on Hwy 77 and turn left. Go til you see Discount Tire on the right. Turn right. Copperfield Village is on that street.

We're getting closer! April 24th will be our first meeting. Bring your steel rig and have a couple of songs in mind. Our meeting will be similar to Billy Phelp's SE Texas Club meeting. We will have a featured player, a short teaching segment, a jam, and a time of communication and interaction between players. We will have a minimum of bass, drums, and guitar, and maybe more to help highlight the steel playing. We welcome all levels of players. Beginning players can use this as a place to gain confidence in front of an audience.

Our sponsor, Copperfield Village, will be serving refreshments.
(See my other posts for details.)

The excitement is building!!

Now, when you say "refreshments", is that sandwiches and substantial stuff, or is it more finger-foods? (Do I need to stop at Subway on the way down?)

Looking forward to your first event.

Ben,

The refreshments will probably just be cookies, coffee, and tea. Sorry, no "substantial" food, just some goodies...

Good to see another steel guitar club getting started. It's great for steel players to get together and share what they know and also fun for those who love to hear steel guitar music.
