I'm hoping to get some feedback on this speaker. How does the electro-voice EVM 12L compare to the Eminence Troy speaker? Any feedback on the EVM12L would be much appreciated.

its a really great speaker - but its very heavy. The EM12 takes some time to break in too, but once you do it sounds great with just about whatever you use it for.

The Double T12, on the other hand, and in my opinion, sounded best only with pedal steel. I did not love it for 6 string - but it was not designed for 6 string. A choice between the two depends on what you are planning to use the speaker for

The T12 is at least 12 pounds lighter than the EM12.

A 2x12 cab with EM12s installed is a beast! We had one in my NAMM booth and my 300W head was unreal out of it.

Great speaker.... I have 3 of them in different amps that I have used for decades. As mentioned, not the lightest in weight but fantastic sound.

I really like the shorter cone EVM-12S for all guitars! I have a cab that is half of a 4-12 EV design with 12S's in it that will do it all!

I've been thinking about getting one of these since I blew up my beloved JBL K-120...Sad

The great thing about EV's is no speaker breakup. I have some cabs that are 30 years old, and I can't tell any difference.

I have a couple of EVM 12Ls and, while they are a great speaker, I don't like them for my own playing, which falls somewhere between a lap steel and pedal steel sound. They are a little too efficient for what I do. BTW, I am selling mine--they are old, but work great.

they are generally too big for Fender cabinets - so looks like you need to find another K120

I wanted to try one in my 300W model but it only fits into an extension cabinet.

Recently I discovered the sonic wonder of 15" EV SRO's for pedal steel... the huge white 25lb coffee can ceramic beast ! Love the EV12L too for 6 string..but the 70's alnico coffee can 12's are my favorites..

It actually might fit. I have a modified baffle that puts the speaker off center to the left.....although as heavy as it is, an ext. cabinet might be the way to go.

I had a couple of 12L's in my Mojotone Twin cab, everything fit, maybe they are bigger than the Fender?
I since made a new baffle, and have a 15" SRO, (like Chris said, yeah!)

The EVM-series speakers were the (equivalent) re-design of the old "coffee can" SRO speakers. These two speakers were the reason that I either sold, or gave away, all my old JBL speakers. Cool

Donny, even though the SRO 15" is still a ceramic magnet speaker, I do hear differences between it, and the EVM15-L, and prefer the SRO, (not that I hear as well as I once did).
