I have read posts praising large diameters for Bars.....15/16" & 1". My current no/name bar is 7/8" dia. What are the good points & bad points for all of these sizes.
I would like to buy a pro-quality bar & do not have the 150 bucks or so that it would cost to buy one of each. I am a beginner & play a 10 string LDG. I understand that everyone is different....I would just like to hear everyone's thoughts, both positive & negative.

Gee whiz, there are so many different bars out there on the market, ask Mike Perlowin for starters (circonia is it? Mike) I use Bjs bars with 7/8 and 1" diameter and they run about $50 bucks each depending, also like Pearse bars and the ole trusty that the music store will sell you of course is Ernie Ball or Dunlop and good reviews on Jim Bullet Bars as well. Lotsa stuff out there, do a search on "Bars" and you'll know more

I obtained a 15/16" diameter BJS bar a while back and have really gotten to like it.

The larger bars are easier to hold on to (because of the size) and have more sustain (because of the weight). The smaller bars are a little harder to hold on to and they don't sustain notes as long for the slow, crying stuff, but they are easier to move quickly and apply vibrato with.
