Anybody have any advice on re-attaching a piece of aluminum trim. What type of glue or bonding agent is best to use?

Randy, be careful with the quick setting glue because if it squeezes out onto the mica it may set up before you can clean it off. I used a good wood glue the last time I did it because it was easy to clean off when you pressed it to the body and it held good. If it's like an Emmons once you glue it down and put the endplate back on it will hold the end.

Bruce Zumsteg recommended contact cement.
Apply to both surfaces.
Let dry til not obviously wet (but tacky: about ten to fifteen minutes)
Press at once into its final position. There's no fudge factor or wiggle room, you have one shot. But it'll stay for a couple decades
