Ashamed to admit it, but my playing time is all on E9, so my C6 playing is very weak. I've been playing "Roadstop" by Jimmy Day, and a couple Hank tunes, but that's about it. What are some easy instrumentals from any era that I should learn? I have a 5 pedal 5 lever C6 set-up.

thanks,
Drew

Drew give Steelin Home a try. Originally played on non pedal by Noel Boggs but the pedals just add to the coolness. Billy

Remington Ride was made for C6. Also Steelin' the Blues is a classic C6 tune. As is St louis Blues. As you get better tackle numbers like Buddy's incredible "The Preacher" or "Night Life".

For a very beautiful waltz, try "La Golendrina". This waltz was very popular amongst steel players during the great western swing days and it lies very well on the C6 neck.

One of the best at the western swing style of doing it is Pee Wee Whitewing. He did this and several other waltz numbers on C6 at Scotty's one year. One of my fondest memories I might add.

For an easy simple song, try a Hawaiian number like Jerry Byrd's classic, "Drowsy Waters". It too lays out well on C6. One of my favorites is "Cocoanut Grove" because it makes use of most of the pedals and knee lever in a more melody style that is easy to learn.

Good luck, and may Jesus bless you in your quests,

carl

I find that ALL Bob Wills tunes lay nice on the C6 neck. My Window Faces the South, Faded Love, Home in San Antone, Bubbles etc...

I think once you figure out one, the rest come pretty easy.

BUDDY EMMONS has a really nice version of "Sentimental Journey" with tab & tracks at a modest price. It's a simple tune and Buddy makes it an educational experience.

Hi Drew, glad to see you again at LT.Zinn's HOF show in Grand Rapids.

Some may know that I had a S10 Sho-Bud , with 5 pedals and 5 knee levers. I had it tuned to E6(but same basically as C6).

I played everything on it, but here is some tunes I remember--"Here's that Rainy Day", "Unforgettable", "Somewhere over the Rainbo", "Stardust"(everybody knows that one)," The Nearness of You", "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You","Don't Take Your Love From Me","Stars fell on Alabama", "Laura". "Body and Soul".....I am going to stop right there, Drew, that will keep you going for a while......al
