Has anyone ever done this for added slitheryness? I can get .024's and .026's. I drop my G a half step on a pedal and a whole step on a knee.

I tune a step higher to D6th, and I still use a wound 5th string!

DAVID, I use an .022p for the fifth string (G) note;not because I'm crazy about the sound, but because I find it much easier to lower with pedal#5. As for tone,it kind of goes "thunk" on the 12th fret but i live with it anyway! If the string manufacturers would start making a better wound .024 I would switch immediately. Most .024W strings have a core which is much too small; the end result is a small wound string which buzzes. This is annoying, but what are the alternatives, BUZZ or THUNK ? If the string companies would increase the core size by .02,what a beautiful world it would be!
