Might be Buddy Charleton. He did a lot of sessions when he wasn't on the road, and he always got excellent tone from his old Sho~Buds.

Sounds like Pete to me... but who knows ??? I have that album and other cuts sound to me that it's Pete. I'll have to go dig the LP out now.

I would agree that it is Pete. The mix makes the steel sound a little different, it comes more from the back than usual.
