looking for rods and collets and suff like bushings and nylon bushings.. i can drill the holes and tap the collets and bushings,, but i think i need 3/32 rods and having a hard time finding them,, headed to a hobby store here in a bit..

Thanks Lane, what i am working on is my Marlen, going to replace all the rods and tuning nuts,,whick reminds me, nylon nuts i need too,,
some of the tuning rods are using what i call collets with set screws for tuning and thats a royal pain..

I have had this thing for over 3 years and it has never jumped out of tune, yea i know hard to believe but its just sit down and play and they will tell you how thuddy the strings are,, so i decide to change the knees and replace the strings,, going to change the knees again this time using the Emmons setup,, and then i went to tune her up and yup you guessed it,, only had a few tuning nuts on the rods,,

well i am going to make this thing right and put both steels up for sale and when the first one sells i will keep the one thats left over,,

Hobby store is a good call. They do have a lot of useful stuff for PSG, including the 0.093" (3/32") rod in various lengths with 4-40 thread already on one end (used for airplane linkages), about $1 ea for 30". You'll also find set collars in various sizes, springs, clips, lots of other useful miscellaneous bits and pieces.

Michael Yahl has the correct size nuts for .093/4-40 rod in various lengths.

Check welding shop for rods. I replaced one on my Marlen like that. I think I used 3/32". They come in 36", more than long enough.

I will second Scotts choice. These stainless rods might be less expensive than any other source.

Welding supply shops sell stainless steel TIG rod by the pound, 1/8" and 1/16" are very common/standard; 3/32" not so much, so you might have to buy it online. At .093 diameter one pound will get you about 14 - 36" pieces of 304 or 308 for about $15 (if you can find it locally). I've also purchased 0.093" 304 from Speedy Metals, lots of other places like Online Metals, etc. have it too for similar prices.

Then you have to go home and thread it yourself, which is a pain. 303 is easier to thread, but more expensive.

Or you can go to any hobby supply store and get 30" pieces of .093 steel rod pre-threaded to 4-40 x 3/4" for about the same price per each, about $1 (less for shorter lengths). So, whatever suits you...

I bought 3/32" stainless welding rod through Amazon. Don' remember the exact cost, but it wasn't very much.

Uh, I've got about 3000 pcs, or more, of hardware in stock!

search cold rolled steel rod , several vendors come up with various size stock. 5/64 and 7/64 are also very common and can easily be threaded to 4-40 heres one
