You guys with Sierras, what do you put on the leg nubs to lubricate them (if anything)? I just finished replacing the 2 front leg sockets in my '97 S-10. One had gotten so badly galled that I had a hard time getting the leg off. I had the guitar apart for nearly a year but received the parts I needed from Sierra last Summer. The hardest part was getting the formica off the front which is why I went ahead and changed out both of the front leg sockets while I had the nameplate off. All I have left to do now is to reglue the formica.

Hi Chuck. Ive had the leg sockets sieze up as well. I used a wide blade to pry the socket open some so that the leg post finally came out. Then I took some fine emery cloth and polished the inside of the socket and the post. They work fine now. Thats happened twice to me. How frustrating. The first time I called Don at Sierra and he sent me a complete set of legposts but Ive never had to use them. Ive never taken the formica off so I dont know what you would use to put it back on.

Guys,

Try some anti-seize spark plug lubricant from the auto parts store on them legs. Its some kind of grease with copper particles in it. It keeps steel spark plugs from seizing in the aluminum cylinder heads.
