At 2:14 he moves to to fret 10 and plays a short triplet . I have no idea how to do this .

At 2:14 I hear a quick "on & release" B pedal move...is that what you are referring to?

That's what it is, he's at the 8th fret though, not 10th. Quick off-on-off the B pedal on string 6 then string 7-8 and back one fret then back to the 3rd fret. He's just really quick and precise.

I love that solo, but the best part is about three seconds earlier when you can hear Ernest say "Shot Jackson's looking for you" to Buddy Laughing. I think that ties in with his last comment at the end, "it was loud anyhow..."

And of course, as has been remarked on before, the use of the right foot at 2:09 when he's up at fret 15.

Buddy's technique is flawless, witness his speed and intonation. The lick is completely playable where he hits it, of course, but is more easily accomplished at the 3rd fret if what you want is the notes.

1. Pedals down at fret 3, pick string 5;
2. Quickly move the bar to f4 and back to f3, releasing pA (this is one very quick motion without picking)
3. Pick s6 and release pB
4. Pick s8, s6, and s5 in succession
5. Depress pB and pick s6 with pB down.

The lick a 2:50 that Tony mentions, I'm gonna have to investigate that one.

Herb, I think Buddy's on the back neck at 2:50 playing hammer-ons an pull-offs.

Correct, requiring a G on s1. With a D note on s1, no can do.

You may be a steel guitar fan if you hear the MC say "...you folks listen now to the greatest of our Grand Ol' Opry stars" and you expect him to say "Buddy Emmons."

Very Happy
