WaynebI feel that the chips give a 400 more body and richness, I have 400's with and without the chips and I play thru 2 with the chips, I guess it comes down to personal taste IMOO _________________ Dan Layne |

Depends on the version of the Nashville 400. Original models do not need anything. Models produced when they started using the 1501-4 speaker and without either the Lemay or Peavey factory mod will have the sound improved with the mod. Later models have the mod incorporated during production and do not need the mod. |

I have a NV400 with the 1502-4 (1984 vintage) and it was great before I had Ken do the mod. dlayne, I think it brought out a little more "body". A little more alive sounding. A little closer (but still real far away) to a tube-like sound. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I agree. The early ones are just fine the way they are. I have a strong preference for the originals. _________________ Emmons/Sho~Bud/Blanton, Fender/Peavey.

I took my modded one out and set it beside my friends stock 400 and his comment was something like HOLY S**t.
I highly recommend it. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Per info on Peavey's Website,
"Nashville 400 amplifiers with serial numbers higher than 08575482 do not require the installation of this modification kit as this kit has been incorporated into the circuitry at the factory. Serial numbers prior to the above are not modified." |
