"Island Blues" is one of the prettiest tunes that Nickie plays.
I was unaware that Gibson made a triple neck "Multiharp" Pedal Steel Guitar. ??

Jacuqes, I wish I wrote in French.
I very much enjoyed the songs by Nickie, and loved the duo with guitar; you accompanied her very well, very attentive, adding a dimension.
Elle est fabuleux, plus tu. Merci beaucoup!

"Multi-Harp" was the name for their triple-neck pedal/console guitar, and it featured 6 pedals that only worked on the middle neck. Their one and two-necked pedal steels were called "Electraharps", but sadly, none of the Gibson pedal steel entries wound up being very popular. The general consensus was that they were expensive, bulky, and rather poorly designed.

Wow, that was really pretty and I loved the Gretsch Super Chet...I used to have one just like it...Chet wanted Gretsch to build the prettiest guitar ever and this was the design they came up with...the whole video was very well done...loved the tone and touch of the steel guitar....NICE !!

Good evening, I forgot to remind you that in september 2012, Doug had already presented on this forum:
" Nickie french parisian steeler "...
We learned that in july 2O15 by our friend Roland
Brault.
So, THANK YOU again and especially to Doug !

Hello ! I made a drawing to show the possibilities of MULTIHARP
Nickie.
Agreements of 3 necks and those of 6 active pedals on the 2nd. 9 agreements or "empty" in total.
His choice since 1963, to play the harmonies varieties
as modes...
I would send you this drawing to annwer your questions.
Help !

That's an interesting diagram. I think this thread fits fine in the non-pedal section. In one of the videos linked above Nickie never touches the pedals, and in the other video she touches a pedal twice at the end of the song. About 98% of what she's playing is non-pedal... and it sounds really sweet!

To meet last 2 comments: " whith or without pedals?"
Thank you to David and Doug, you ave both right!
Nickie music were composed on his various guitars.
(see video "Souviens-toi). She continued to play on his Multiharp. Then the new enriched themselves harmonies
with the pedals.
Nickie much like what affects what surprises...
Its originality is easier to feel than to define, but I
can assure you that is a romantic ( with or whitout pedals...)
Sincerely

" Enjoyed hearing some of the songs, Jacques. First saw the link on Steel Guitar Forum. Hello from Canada -- and southern BC, in particular.
I write songs and play mostly piano and guitar. Have been learning lap steel guitar for about five years now and it's starting to sound musical. Love the instrument."

Since this very interesting music is being performed on pedal steel, I'm moving it to Steel Players from Steel Without Pedals.

OK, Brad. Thank you!
But we also hope to keep all our new friends
(Doug,Roger,Charlie,Denis etc...) who love our duets...
With or without pedals, there are online 28/30 (?)
videos or audios.
Bravo for your site on the History of hawaiian guitar:
Very very informative !
