I was just wondering, that's what I have on my guitar, and was wondering what everbody thought of them.

Hi Terry…
I have heard these pickups. There is only one usable decent sounding selection of the bunch. Save yourself some money and just get the single coils or the 108N.
I have the 108’s on both necks on my Emmons and they have plenty of growl and sound great..

Thanks Rhino. I don't know which I have on mine, all I know is their Pentads.
Seems like most players like the Lawrence(sp) pickups, I was just wondering how the Pentad sounds compared to the lawrence(sp)

I've only played one steel (an S10) with a Pentad. It's a humbucking pickup that comes with a 5 position selector switch that lets you vary the coil connections from series, series (out of phase), parallel, parallel (out of phase) and series/parallel. They do give you some different tones, but only a few players care for them. Volume levels change radically between the switch positions, and most of the settings aren't really "country friendly". It might be nice if you played blues or rock, though.

I also has an S-10 p/p in the 80's with the Pentad. Was never 100% happy with the pickup though. I almost NEVER changed it out of position unless was I just fooling around with different tones.
I wouldn't (for myself only) opt for another on a future guitar (again for myself, no disrespect for the product, it's just not my taste).

Thanks to all for the "heads-up" info on the Pentad Pickup. I have been wondering about the durn things for a few years now and never could get myself to part with $150 for the "experiment".
What's the recommendation for my Dekley S-10 or Emmons SD-10 if I ever wanna spend money in this direction?
Thanks and regards.

Terry…
I liked the Emmons single coils but, couldn’t take the 60 cycle noise. I purchased a couple of BL-710 Humbuckers and installed them. I must admit they were quiet and allowed me to tailor my sound. The 710’s were designed to drive the 500K ohm volume pedal pot causing minimal signal loss and more drive into a preamp.
I sold my original Emmons and kept those 710’s with the intention of installing them in my new guitar. I like the 108N’s that Emmons Company installed so I still have my 710’s hanging around.

Thanks Rhino. I'll keep those 108n's in mind
I have to say though, I like the sound of these on my guitar. they seem to have a lot of bite, and have that good crisp fuzz effect sound, no mellow sound on the first 5 strings.
