I have a friend that asked me to find out where the best placement would be for this staggared LK. I suggested maybe because of the angle of your left leg , it might be better making it a LKL staggered. any help would be appreciated Thanks Skip

If I were adding staggered levers, the first one I'd go with is LKR. Put the one closest to your knee toward the middle/front of the guitar and the one further from your knee near the back apron. Set the tilt of the levers so that you can easily engage the one toward the front without activating the other one. To use the one nearer the back, you slide back just far enough for your knee to clear the one nearer the front.

Put the change you use most often on the one closer to the front -- your knee will naturally only engage that one. You'll get used to just tilting or sliding back slightly to get the other one. It's never gonna be as easy or comfortable with a 3 lever left knee setup, but there are so many changes and so few knee levers.

Well, I would say that the best place to put a staggered on the left knee, will be LKL frontside.
I asked Bruce Zumsteg about this back in -87 when he had the 5 kneelever setup - "Crawford cluster" done on my Zum.
He told me that the knee lever that was the hardest to use was LKR backside.

After I got the Steel back from Bruce I realized he findings and agreed to his suggestions.

My kneelever setup has changed a bit since then - the LKR inside are gone.....

The extra LKL outside are very easy to use compared to LKR inside in my opinion.

I think this would be the same with the "Day" setup as well.

Your main levers are LKL backside and LKR outside.

Dag
