I can't be the first person to have thought of this.

I don't seem to be capable of remembering to take my tuning key off of the hex nut after I tune a pedal or lever. It falls off, of course, and I'm either crawling around on the floor trying to fish it out from under the radiator (which seems to possess magnetic properties that draw any small objects into its nether regions), or have some singer chasing me as I walk off the stage saying, "Excuse me: I think this fell off your piano!"

I finally got around to trying this fix that I had either imagined or (more likely) read about on the forum a while back:

I drilled a small hole in the disc part of the key, and then tied some plastic line (fishing line would work) through it. A loop at the other end of the line can be placed over whatever sticks out at the bridge end of the steel. On My super Pro, that's one of the pickup screws on the C6 neck.

Now if I leave the key on a hex nut, it won't go far if it falls off, and I might even catch some fish!

Just don't let it get jammed up somewhere as you put the guitar in the case. It could mar the finish. You're welcome. Tommy......

Good point, Tommy. No, I remove it and put it in the pick-and-bar bag as always.

Just buy hundreds of them and fill your pack-a-seat. No worries. Great idea Dan. I suppose you could use one of those lanyards for touch pads to attach it.

See, I knew I couldn't have been the first one to think of this! I probably read this three years ago and it got lost in the recesses of my brain. I like the idea of tying it to the guitar cord.

Wish I had thought of this sooner. Works great, and the price was right.
