"In order to maintain the best tone, the manufacturer recommends changing strings daily." LOL!
Seriously...THAT'S WEIRD!
But, it appears to have been made of cast aluminum, and it does have holes for legs, and it does have fret markers...or are they holes under each string at each fret? Since the strings seem to be pretty far apart, and the 7-necks would make playing in a normal manner quite a stretch, I would postulate that what we're looking at is some sort of custom-made autoharp designed maybe to be played with hammers (like a dulcimer). I can imagine there was some sort of mechanical fretting mechanism planned (pins which came up individually under each string at each fret, or small individual bridges that went into the fret holes under each string?), but never installed. The thing that amazes me is that casting...it's huge! It was obviously designed specifically for a stringed instrument (notice the downward slope at the nut end).

I would hate to have to play that guitar. I never tried to play laying down but that is about the only way I could see someone playing that steel. I dobut if the late wrestler Andre The Giant could stretch out enough to play that guitar. |

I'd move this to "No Peddlers", but it's already a topic of discussion there. So I'm simply closing this one. For further discussion, click here.
