You probably don't need Flash Player for most of the videos on YouTube. The vast majority are streamed using the HTML 5 Video Protocol. All modern and current model browsers understand this protocol. Only older browsers, like Internet Explorer 8 and under cannot play them back without the manual addition of the H.264 Codec.
But, Flash causing a script to hang is never a good thing. I would try closing all open programs and browsers, uninstalling Flash, rebooting and reinstalling Flash (different versions for IE, Firefox and Chrome). Also, clear out the browser's cache. For IE users, this translates into Empty Temporary Internet Files folder.
If you are using an older version of IE, and Flash is causing it grief, try installing a new version, like IE 10 or 11. If still no happy happy, switch to a current version of Firefox or Chrome, which have support for HTML 5 Video built in. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

Wiz, I run Firefox 38.0.5 and have the latest Flash installed. Can I uninstall it and let HTML 5 take over? I also have VLC 2.1.3.0 installed, but it never plays YouTube stuff. _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)
