Does anyone have a favourite iPad app for slowing down music and/or scrubbing through music? iTunes is not great for this.

I think this has been posted before, but I could find a matching thread.

I use Amazing Slowdowner every day, I love this software!

Joe, I have not actually used this, but one of my bandmates uses "Amazing Slowdowner" and really likes it. It is available for iPad. Do a google search and it will come right up.

Amazing Slowdowner is very good, but I find Transcribe! to be better and more intuitive. ASD has better audio quality available, but Transcribe has other cool features.

I have a free Mac app called gAssistant that will slow down music and allow you to maintain pitch. It's a bit klugy and limited but it's free.

Yes, I use Transcribe on my desktop, but it is not available for iPad. Too bad. It is a great program.

A very useful thing with ASD is that you can change pitch, semi-tones but also cent. Very useful for old records that are often between 2 keys because of the tape speed not perfect.

On my iPad I use Anytune Pro+. It's pretty awesome.

I have ASD on my iPad & iPhone and the program works perfectly. It's easy to use and store for future use.

Combine with Audio-Hijack (separate program) and you can lift the audio tracks from any YouTube videos or radio broadcasts and load them into ASD.

I love lifting a lick or melody by ear and figuring out the scale, but sometimes... Well you know.

Thanks for this enlightening thread, all! I tried the free version of ASD, but found that it would only allow you to play/manipulate the first minute of a song. I think the full version is $15 which, by app standards, is very pricey.

I did find a free app called Anytune that seems to do the same thing, though. Might be worth checking out.

That free Anytune app is the entry-level version of the app that Mike Neer recommended, Anytune Pro+. I use Anytune Pro+ too, and I agree with Mike, it's great. Good feature set, and excellent sound quality even at extreme slow-down speeds. Responsive customer support. The only negative is that the user interface is a bit cumbersome because the app has so many features.

Like Amazing Slow Downer, it's expensive for an app. I was reluctant to spend that much, but I'm glad I did. Definitely worth it.
