Out here in Oregon we have a drag race driver that runs an electric powered rig and has burned up many of the top west coast champs.
Ever heard of him?

Gary, I ran Ihra for several years and followed the circuit. Being from Ohio I spent a lot of time at National trails and Norwalk. My dad was a mopar racer for several years when I was growing up. I ran a 1965 Dodge for years, but currently have a 2002 Firebird and am working on a little Ford for Nhra. I still bracket race some here in the Carolina's. I know the Marshall's (Dodge Material) family well as well as Paul Marcum and several other guys around Columbus.

I've always had a great interest in cars and trucks but never raced. As a matter of fact most of my vehicle could have been referred to as Push Pulls cause that was what was happening to them most of the time, typical musician, $10,000 rig and a $200 car.

Here's a very old 1968 picture of my first 1960 Vette. Not long after the picture was taken, I stripped her down and set her up for the track. Pushing over 500 hp out of a bored out 327, doing in the 10's on a 1/4 mile at Moriches, NY.

Don Davis built dragsters. In fact, the pedals that were used on the DALAND pedal steels (don DAvis and hank garLAND plus shot jackson made them) and the pedals Shot Jackson would use sometimes to add pedals to non pedal steels were the same pedals Don Davis used in his dragsters.

I raced 1/8 & 1/4 mile for years but got away from it. Now, I'm getting the itch again. I ran a Blown Small block 71 Vega for years and a 440 1970 Roadrunner. Getting the itch to build an S10 or maybe a 10.5 Outlaw car. Something " Unusual". I'll post some picks when I find the next adventure.

I did my fair share of drag racing when I was in my teens. But my kid owns 417 motorsports in Springfield, Mo. Here's a little Nova he built.

This is like one I had new in '65. Got this one in '06 and redid the running gear. 452" Engine with manual torqueflite trans. Engine went 11.6 quarter mile time in another car. Haven't tried it yet in this car other than one starting line blast and coast through the traps.

Ben,
Will you be bringing your car to the old time drags at the end of July?
I'll be there with a group of people.

Craig it needs some sorting out. If I can get the vibration out I might take it. It's in the engine and it probably needs to come out and be checked. I need to wait until after Carlisle next week before I can do it.

Tell Tony Feil to figure it out.
Even if you don't bring the car, come hang out.
Always a great time there.
Hope to see you there.

Tony wants to do it now but I know how meticulous he is and I don't know if we can do it in time. It's drive able but not race ready yet. Even with the engine fixed it needs slicks, gears and some other odds & ends. I will be there anyway so lets plan on meeting somewhere.

Back in the late sixties ,early seventies I ran a Shelby GT 500 with a 428 Cobra in it. We shut down a lot of Vettes, much to their surprise.I sold that car for fourteen hundred dollars and have been sorry ever since.Live and learn.Ford also built a 427 engines in the early sixties that was a real honker.
