Thinking of ordering a G2 in the near future, and would like to know which pick-ups some of you G2 players prefer. Appreciate your responses.

I would go with the stock Mullen single coil pickups like Tommy White uses and Herby Wallace swore by as well, to get that well rounded full bodied tone. I tried other pickup options but none equaled the stock Mullen single coil for the few G-2's I owned, that is just my humble opinion.

'cos they can, Chris! It's mental comfort after a practice session.

No experience with a G2. No one has more at stake making the G2 sound great than Mullen. Your taste might be satisfied by something different, but I can't see how the stock PU would be a bad choice.

I swapped the Mullen single coil and put in a BL705. A lot of G2 players really like them. Not my cup of tea, though. The single coil is back in and I'm loving it.

You can't go wrong with the stock single coils or 705's. I loved the stock pickups, but for my taste the 705's win by a tiny margin. I felt it balanced the guitar just a little bit better than the single coils. Just my $.02

Do the stock Mullen pu's have any hum?

Does anyone have any experience of how the Mullen single coil compares to a Truetone single coil?

I've just bought a 2nd hand Mullen 12 string single coil to try on my Carter U12, at the moment I'm using a Truetone 12 which I really like but thought I'd give the Mullen a go.

I'll get around to swapping them around in the next month or so to do a compare, but just wondering if anyone has tried both these PU's and what the differences were sound-wise.

Thanks

Geoff

They are both well made pickups but built differently. TT scatter winds their pickups and may use a different gauge wire, different size magnets, different tension, so both pickups wound to the same ohm's will most likely not sound exactly the same. Trying is the only way to know for sure.
Good luck!
