My good friend DUANE BECKER..............

lives there and is one very exceptional steel guitarist. He's most likeable, talented and a real friend sorta guy.

Be sure to look him up.

A quick memberlist search reveals 11 forum members listing their homes as Spokane, WA, and that doesn't include Duane Becker, who is one of the very best, and lives in nearby Elk, WA. If you add the steel community from Western WA and OR, and you are at all mobile, you will have maybe 60 to 100 steelers to meet up with, and the semi-annual jamborees in Portland will become your new Mecca...

Mark, I check the forum probably everyday, but your post way back on May 18 must have gotten by me.
There are several guys playing but they dont play out, other then once a while in church.
We used to have a steel jam but that kinda fell by the way side.
I'm the only one playing out, usually 4 nights nights a week with 3 different bands. There is one other guy that I hear about doing weekends with a new country type band.
Other then that there is no steel, pedal steel, or hawaiian guitar around the Spokane metro area. Thats a shame too, with Spokane and Coeur d Alene having close to 500,000 people.
There are lots of places to play, if you hussle.
I'm still playing steel full time, only job I have.
I live about 30 miles north of Spokane and commute to gigs mainly in the city.
Looking forward to your move-we need more steelers!!!

Great, Looking forward to getting out there. I have done all the major weekend playing that I want to do,(played 4 nights a week for 30 years). I just want to do a maybe small gig 3-4 piece once in a while, And of course jam with a few other steelers and trade licks, Thankx for the reply, Mark

Any of you Spokane cats know guitarist Roger Dines? He's an old L.A. buddy of mine, terrific player and singer, I gotta get over the mountains and visit him. I'd like to meet and hear you, Duane Becker, too while I'm at it.

John, no I dont know Roger Dines. Does he play in Rock and Roll bands? I generally stay with country groups and really dont know too many guitar cats into rock.

Roger plays all styles brilliantly. We played in a country band together. Let me know your dates and venues, I'll send him your way.
