Does anyone else use this tuning? The first 3 strings seem to have the proper tension but from G# -B seems a bit light. Any thoughts on better gushes for the light strings? Thnx

Currently E is .028 wound, G#.o18 and B .015...I have some knowledge in this but thought I'd put it out there and save me an afternoon of breaking strings. I like my light strings to be as heavy as I can in open G. Just trying to maximize string tension with this tuning on the high side..

I'm also curious if this is a common tuning and if not why? It just sounds good to me...

Cody,

Your tuning, lo-to-hi, E,B,D,E,G#,B is a version of E7.

My guess is that the vast majority of players would use this version, lo-to-hi, E-B-D-G#-B-E. They are opting for having a high E rather than your middle E string.
